The Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies at the Erasmus University Rotterdam invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the Erasmus Clinical & Health Psychology group. The position is embedded within the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences and contains a combination of teaching (60%) and research (40%).

We are particularly interested in a candidate with a strong experimental psychopathology and/or an anxiety- and stress- related research background.

Job description

As an Assistant Professor you will be contributing to our Clinical & Health Psychology research program. You will be participating in teaching in the Bachelor’s degree programme in Psychology in the domains relevant to Clinical Psychology and the international Master’s degree programme in Clinical Psychology. Teaching involves (large-scale) lectures, (small-scale) instruction and individual supervision of clinical internships and research theses, along with more general tasks of coordination and administration.

The core tasks include:

·         participating in teaching at a Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Teaching involves individual supervision of research internships and theses; lectures and workgroups in clinically oriented courses;

·         participating in the research programs of the group;

·         publishing research findings in (high impact) international scientific journals;

·         contributing to the acquisition of external research funding for the benefit of the research programme.

Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague (m/f/x) who:

·         has a PhD-degree in a relevant area such as clinical psychology or experimental psychology;

·         has experience with teaching in clinical psychology or related areas (e.g., courses related to experimental psychopathology, affective neuroscience, health psychology);

·         has an eye for innovations in teaching methods and is prepared to contribute to the optimization of the quality of teaching;

·         has scientific creativity and productivity, as shown by recent peer-reviewed publications;

·         has creative and innovative research ideas, preferably in the field of experimental psychopathology;

·         has the ability to, and preferably experience with, acquiring research funding;

·         is motivated to contribute to open science;

·         is willing to share the results of scientific research with society so we can increase the university’s contribution to society.

·         has excellent social skills and is a team player.

We offer a temporary position for two years.

Conditions of employment

Internationally-oriented and varied work within an enthusiastic team, with attractive fringe benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Your initial employment term will be 2 years. Your remuneration will depend on the position, your specific knowledge and experience It will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between EUR 3.746,- and EUR 5.127,- gross per year (salary scale 11 , CAO NU ). Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 annual leave days in case of a full work week. In addition, EUR takes part in the ABP pension scheme, and we also offer partially paid parental leave. For international spouses we have set up a dual career programme.
