Job description

The Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) team is the centre of expertise in the Netherlands and one of the leading groups in the world, with both knowledge and experimental expertise of the behaviour of pesticides and other toxic substances in the environment and their effects on the ecosystem in temperate and (sub) tropical climate zones.

As manager of ERA, you will steer the sustainable employability of the staff and develop the strategic lines of the team together with your team members. You will also be responsible for safeguarding the quality of research, and the financial results of the team. You and your team will contribute to achieving the ESG strategy (particularly acquisition), especially the Sustainable Land Use, Sustainable Water Management and Biodiverse Environment programmes. You will promote the collaboration of researchers within the team, and with other teams at Wageningen Environmental Research (WENR), relevant chair groups of Wageningen University and other groups (national and international). As manager you will take part in the WENR team leader meetings and will report to the ESG management council.

Requirements

  • A colleague who is academically trained, within a field of the domain of Wageningen University & Research;
  • An inspiring connector who has a coaching style of leadership;
  • A colleague who organizes (daily) processes easily and is service-oriented towards the team;
  • An enterprising, customer- and result-oriented colleague;
  • Someone able to respond strategically to developments within the professional field in the market, both nationally and internationally;
  • Possesses at least five years of relevant experience in managing professionals and research projects;
  • Good at acquisition and its management.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €4,369,- and €6,602,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 13). Additionally, a contract for 32 hours is possible.
