Job description

The Education & Exams Office (EEO) of the School of Business and Economics is an operational unit within the School’s Administration Office that facilitates educational processes that play a role in the so-called student life-cycle. Legislation, rules, guidelines, safety protocols, UM wide agreements and deadlines are leading in carrying out the tasks that underlie the educational processes. These are predominantly administrative, logistical, management and education management supporting tasks.

Due to the continuously changing environment (due to legislation, program changes, policies, digital developments, etc.), flexibility is important within the EEO as is the willingness to adapt the work to innovations or new quality requirements.

The staff resided in the EEO (about 25 people) works in teams. These are: Admissions Office, Planning & Canvas-support, Exams Administration & Front Office, and secretary for the Board of Examiners. EEO is organised in such a way that staff members can be deployed on different teams. This enables the office to deal with peak and off-peak periods and to ensure timely and correct handling of the student life-cycle. 

In order to lighten the administrative burden for SBE’s teaching staff, EEO is looking for two student affairs officers who can support lecturers with various administrative tasks related to exams and setting up their courses, such as collecting and processing of (partial) results, processing exam comments and organising exam inspections.

Tasks

•         Supporting course coordinators with exams and quizzes in Testvision and/or Canvas;

•         Processing attendance lists/(partial) results of courses and exams and preparing export lists for processing in SAP;

•         Supporting course coordinators in the execution of the comments procedure following written exams;

•         Organizing exam inspections;

•         Monitoring relevant deadlines and guidelines;

•         Providing support in ordering, processing and archiving course materials, such as books, e-readers and course manuals;

•         Contributing to the production of management reports;

•         Flexible deployment within EEO for other education and exam-related support activities.

Requirements

Job requirements

•         Thinking and acting at MBO+/HBO-level, by education and/or working experience;

•         The official language at SBE is English, therefore excellent language skills in English, both verbally and in writing, is required. An English test might be part of the selection procedure;

•         The ability to speak and understand Dutch is considered an asset;

•         Excellent knowledge of and experience with MS Office, in particular MS Excel (demonstrable and in-depth);

•         Knowledge and use of SAP SLcM, Verint and Canvas is a plus;

•         Experience with and affinity for administrative work is highly appreciated.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Temporary, 1 year.

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience, in salary scale 7/8 (between € 2.329,- and a maximum of € 3.548,- gross per month, based on a fulltime employment contract) according to the collective labour agreement (CAO) of Dutch Universities, including 8% holiday pay and an 8,3% end of year payment. A preliminary scale might apply in case the suitable candidate has yet to develop certain professional skills.
