Job description

Are you an experienced professional specialised in food and agriculture in protracted crisis settings? Are you interested to support our growing portfolio of work aiming to build food system resilience in fragile and conflict affected settings?

We are looking for a new colleague to join our team that is focusing on building food system resilience in protracted crisis settings at Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation. Our work portfolio contains short-term and longer-term assignments and projects, focusing on action learning for capturing good programming practice and the development of operational and policy guidelines. We work with partners in Africa on different programmes, to build food system resilience to improve food and nutrition security outcomes. For a better understanding of our work, please visit our website.

Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation seeks to bring 'Knowledge into Action'. You will have the opportunity to get involved in projects that combine our four services: capacity development, project design and implementation, action research and (policy) advisory services. You can be counted upon to build and guide effective partnerships between knowledge institutes, government organisations, civil society organisations, and private companies. You will facilitate trainings and workshops and develop training related materials, tools and methodologies, and contribute to learning agendas and knowledge management on building food system resilience in protracted crises. You will contribute to further developing our international profile and portfolio of work in the area of food system resilience, and you bring a relevant professional network that enables you to do so.

You will be working with existing programmes, in particular the Food & Nutrition Security Resilience Programme (FNS-REPRO) and NUFFIC programmes as per their protracted crisis call for the Horn of Africa. In doing so you will actively contribute to the design and implementation to build longer term North-South-South partnerships on building Food Systems Resilience, particularly in the Horn of Africa (Sudan, Somaliland, South Sudan).

At Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation, project implementation and capacity strengthening are closely intertwined and mutually reinforce each other, we expect you to work on both. Projects primarily take place in, and require travel to, the Horn of Africa, although most of our work is currently done remotely in collaboration with local partner organisations.
