Job description

You will work as a part of the UAV photogrammetry team at the EOS department. Your task is to develop the UAV image-based techniques that allow for the generation of detailed 3D models even in challenging urban scenes. Technically, this implies developing an automated solution for efficient online multi-stage flight planning. After an initial flight, 3D models are reconstructed and then an assessment is followed to identify automatically the low-quality areas where the next UAV flight should be planned to generating highly detailed 3D building city models.

Your work focuses on the algorithmic and procedural sides and the development of prototype tools which implies a reasonable skill in programming.

The specific tasks of this work are (with specific requirements):

  • Design and implement an automated optimal flight planning algorithm.
  • Integrate and test the developed planning to the UAV platform in an urban scene.
  • Develop automated and reliable techniques for turning point clouds into highly detailed 3D city models (LOD2 or possibly LOD3).
  • Publishing research findings in scientific journals, presenting the outcome at international conferences, interacting with local and international scholars and practitioners.
