TU/e is situated in the heart of Europe's leading innovative top technology region Brainport in the South-East of the Netherlands. The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Dynamics and Control section at TU/e is an ambitious and inclusive department. A significant amount of research is done in close cooperation with large high-tech companies, such as Philips, ASML, DAF, NXP, as well as many small/medium enterprises. 

We invite applications for a new faculty positions at Assistant Professor level. Candidates in all areas related to our research group Dynamics and Control will be considered, including, but not limited to: 
  • Nonlinear dynamics of mechanical systems
  • Structural acoustics and noise control
  • First-principle and data-based modelling of dynamical systems
  • Nonlinear and data-based control
  • Vehicle dynamics, tyre dynamics and control, automated and cooperative driving
  • Mechanical design
  • Manufacturing systems
  • Robotics
  • Networked systems

The position is open from July 13, 2021, and is open for women only in the framework of the Irène Curie Fellowship program of TU/e. Review of applications will begin immediately upon receipt, and continue until the positions are filled, with the last date for applications being September 30, 2021.  

You will be offered the opportunity to establish an independent research group in collaboration with colleagues within and outside our department and at national and international institutions. Substantial starting packages to kick-start your career in our department are available. We provide support such as training programs for academic leadership and the university teaching qualification and an informal mentoring scheme to help you get to know the university and the Dutch (research) environment

Requirements

  • Motivated researcher, with a PhD. 
  • Ability to conduct high quality academic research, demonstrated by a relevant PhD thesis and publications in high impact journals. 
  • Ability to teach or, assist in the teaching process, shown by experience as well as positive evaluations of these teaching efforts. 
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills. 
  • Strong cooperation skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. 
  • Experience in acquiring external research funding from (inter-)national funding bodies or, industry is an asset. 
  • Excellent proficiency (written and verbal) in English.
