Job description

Your teaching activities will mainly take place within our bachelor programs and the master program Marketing. You will be responsible for providing substantive didactic support to lecturers for a selection of courses provided by the Marketing group of the Business Economics department. Furthermore for the hiring, training and guidance of teaching assistants, for the further development and integration of courses within the programs, and for the supervision of bachelor theses. In particular, the courses you are expected to support cover empirical marketing, marketing research design and marketing research methods. You also contribute to educational innovation in the program.

The main goal of your role

You make an active contribution to the design, development and implementation of the marketing courses and program, and you are actively involved with the training and support of teaching assistants. You will be part of the Tutor Academy and you work directly with the course lecturers. You will report to the manager Tutor Academy.

Your main tasks

  • Course delivery, including one or more lectures and/or tutorials.
  • You hire, train and coach the teaching assistants in our courses.
  • You co-develop and coordinate course material and exams with the course lecturers
  • You assist with grading of assignments and exams
  • You supervise and assist bachelor students in writing bachelor theses
  • You identify opportunities for improvement and innovation of education and the deployment of teaching assistants, and you support implementation of these innovations.

Requirements

  • You have (or expect to complete soon) a PhD in marketing, business economics or a closely related field, and can demonstrate a strong interest and ability to teach in the field of marketing. The courses and activities you will teach and develop contain marketing-related content.
  • Strong affinity and experience with teaching and education.
  • You can teach at an academic level in English and in Dutch.
  • Experience with the R programming language and software environment is a plus.
  • Experience in coaching and project management is a plus.
  • You have strong didactic, relational, oral and written communication skills.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year, with a possibility of extension for a max. of 2 years.

We offer an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

We offer a contract that is initially for one year based on 0.6 fte, with a possibility of extension for a max. of 2 years.  Your salary is dependent on your specific knowledge and experience, and will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between € 2.790,- and € 5.127,- gross per month, on a fulltime basis. (scale 10-11, CAO NU). A full-time appointment at EUR is 38 hours per week.

In addition, EUR pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3% and offers excellent secondary benefits, and a very generous leave scheme. The Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) is EUR's economics faculty. The ESE consists of four different departments (Economics, Business Economics, Applied Economics and Econometrics). The vacancy is within the Business Economics department. This department is organized in three education and research groups: Accounting, Auditing and Control (AAC), Marketing and Finance.
