Consultant for the Learning Innovation Team to complement and innovate the delivery of education.

Job description

RSM has its own learning innovation team to complement the delivery of excellent education based on world-class research. The team is looking for a new consultant to help further innovate RSM education towards a blended, student-centred experience with programmatic assessment at its core.

A day in the life of a learning innovation consultant

08:30 Start work. Coffee! Read emails

09:00 Discuss the vision for assessment and feedback with a project group

09:30 Planning for increasing learner responsibility and autonomy

10:00 Team meeting to discuss progress of the programmatic assessment implementation

11:00 Facilitate a learning design session for a bachelor course

13:00 Lunch

13:30 Meeting with the directors of the international MBA programme about innovating the curriculum

14:30 Give teachers a demonstration of a tool they can use for peer feedback

14:45 Write a project plan for an automated formative feedback tool for a master course

17:00 Advise a teacher how to increase interactivity during lectures

17:30 Have a drink with the team (not every day, of course)

Requirements

The pandemic has had an immense impact on education at RSM. Our large (international) student population made it imperative that we delivered engaging and interactive online education of high quality.

We want to build on these experiences and make the student journey more personalised, flexible, and engaging for our students. We are exploring if programmatic assessment will help us achieve this objective and are looking for a new team member who brings this expertise.

Ideally, you:
  • have worked in educational innovation before, gained experience and know what doesn't work. This will allow you to translate innovation to RSM's education most effectively
  • have experience with the implementation of programmatic assessment and what that entails in the design, delivery, and organisation of education
  • have affinity with the use of technology in education
  • are aware of the latest developments in the field of educational science
  • have good organisational and planning skills
  • are not afraid to facilitate workshops for an astute and observant group of academics
  • have proven project managements skills

Your required competencies
You:
  • have a master degree in educational science or a related area
  • have knowledge of assessment methodologies, practices, and principles
  • have extensive work experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • are fluent in Dutch and English (CEFR level C1)
  • have excellent communication and people skills
  • are a team player
  • are independent, pro-active, and eager to learn
  • want to take education forward to meet current and future challenges
  • want to help teachers to open up to further improve education
  • can help to maintain our progress to enhance quality and continued innovation in education.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

Contract type: Initially 1 year for 0.8 fte

Your new colleagues:

RSM's learning innovation team is dynamic and professional. We are all about improving, growing, and increasing student performance. You will be working closely with seven team colleagues. Among them are a PhD in educational psychology, lifelong learning specialists, change management experts, and eager-to-learn student assistants.

RSM offers possibilities to combine working from home with working on campus, and as soon as Covid-19 restrictions are lifted you are expected to work on campus in Rotterdam a certain number of hours per week.

Our mission is to proactively innovate all education within the business school to improve its quality and value proposition.

The conditions of employment correspond with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from € 2,836 (scale 10) up to € 5,211 gross per month (scale 11), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.
