Within Global Health Law Groningen (GHLG), a centre of expertise of the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, a PhD position will become available. Prospective candidates are invited to express their interest for these vacancies before 26 September (see below).

The overall project focuses on the regulation of risk factors for non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The project aims to study how law can play a role in reducing such risk factors, including smoking, unhealthy diets, and alcohol abuse. This PhD project focuses specifically on regulatory options for improving child oral health (in collaboration with Prof David Manton from UMCG), yet it may also branch out to other areas of food regulation.

Research will be conducted within Global Health Law Groningen (GHLG), a multidisciplinary research centre based at the Faculty of Law which comprises several PhD candidates in the field of global health law. The PhD positions are part of a Collaborative Doctoral Partnership between the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission and the University of Groningen under which PhD students are co-hosted and co-supervised. The work will be done in collaboration with Dr Jan Wollgast (JRC Ispra, Italy). The candidate will spend two years in Groningen, and two in Ispra (EU research campus, Italy).
