Job description

We are looking for someone to support our team for 36 hours per week

Our new colleague will be involved in the following activities:

  • Delivering workshops and lectures in both English and Dutch. Topics a.o.: competence development, exploring the labour market, entering the labour market, making decisions, etc.
  • Career counselling: short talks with students that have a question on how to enter the labour market Individual talks with a coaching approach with students who have a question about their career development
  • Project-based work: innovations and improvements in the field of student employability, within the Student Counseling department and UM
  • Account management: excellent collaboration with various stakeholders (staff members, policy advisers, mentors, course coordinators, employability coordinators, program coordinators) within various faculties and departments at central level

Requirements

Who are we looking for?

  • Someone with experience in delivering training or leading groups for education purposes
  • Someone with affinity with the target group (UM students of all faculties, all years, all nationalities)
  • Proficient in English and Dutch
  • Preferably an academic degree
  • Experience in project-based working, preferably in the context of higher education
  • Someone with knowledge of and affinity with the (international) labor market and student employability
  • Preferably flexible in planning (working days Monday – Friday)

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with prospect of permanent employment.

What do we offer?

Temporary employment with a term of 1 year with an outlook on a permanent employment if you perform well.

This position is classified in the UFO profile of (study) career councellor 1, scale 10 (VSNU) with a minimum: € 2.836,00 gross, maximum:  € 4.474,00 gross per month with a full-time employment contract. 

The size of the employment is 0.9 FTE.

Work location Student Service Center: Bonnefantenstraat 2, 6211 KL Maastricht.

UM Career Services together with UM Psychologists is part of UM Student Guidance and located at the UM Student Services Centre.  The UM Student Services Centre provides information to future and present students about entry, registration, fees and diploma-validation. Students can also find legal advice on study related matters, career advice or help from a psychologist here.

UM Career Services plays a leading role in the domain of student employability within UM. We support students from all faculties and all study years in their professional development and prepare them for their path to the (international) labor market. UM Career Services offers online tools, lectures, workshops and individual guidance to students. This is done in the SSC, co-curricularly and within various educational programs at bachelor and master level.
