The Education Support Team of TSHD (Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences) is looking for an Education Coordinator / Study Advisor in the size of 1.0 fte. Two part-time positions of 0.4 fte and 0.6 fte are negotiable.

Job description

As Education Coordinator, you have a central role in the educational support and educational organization of a number of TSHD programs. You support the program director in aspects of the educational organization, such as the programming of the education (curriculum - supply process), the organization of focus groups, the introduction days and the graduation ceremony. You monitor the course of the program and identify bottlenecks and you contribute to the (practical) optimization of education. You are sparring partner of the program director and give advice on adjustments and improvements. 

As study advisor of the (pre-)master programs Data Science and Society and the  (pre-)master programs in Philosophy, you are the first point of contact for our students. You guide and advise students on topics like study progress, study choice and career opportunities. You contribute proactively to the study guidance within TSHD. You make proposals for adjustments in the guidance based on policy developments within the university and/or based on your own experiences within projects such as the mentorship and the introduction activities. You analyze the inflow, through-flow and outflow data of your cohorts and report your findings. You provide information in English to prospective and current students. In addition, you advise the Examination Board on student requests.

You operate in a faculty and university policy context, under the responsibility of the Vice Dean of Education, the Department Head of the Education Support Team, and the Program Directors of TSHD. You will work with the education coordinators, education policy officers, internship coordinator and Career Services Officer within TSHD and with representatives from other departments within Tilburg University. Within the Education Support Team there is a periodic review (prompted by student intake, among other things) of the program package that is assigned to the various student advisors / education coordinators within the team.

Requirements

You have a completed academic education, preferably within the School's science fields. You have demonstrable knowledge of and work experience in higher education. Experience in education coordination and/or student advising is a plus. You are efficient, accurate and have a precise work ethic. You adapt your communication style to the situation of the student and you have affinity with this target group. You are able to quickly switch between various parties and have a good understanding of processes. You are strong in organization and solution and service oriented. You have excellent independent working skills and also seek collaboration with other colleagues within TSHD and within the university. You have excellent oral and written skills, both in Dutch and in English.

Conditions of employment

This is a temporary employment contract (funded by the National Program Education (NPO)) for the duration of one year with, depending on the actual performance and the available financial resources, the prospect of an extension.

The salary depends on education and experience and amounts to a minimum of € 2,846 to a maximum of € 4,490 gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities). In addition, the university has excellent secondary employment conditions, such as a study facilities scheme and the possibility of influencing your terms of employment partly individually with the aid of a selection model for employment conditions.
