The new research group Learning Technology & Analytics will be part of the Global & Inclusive Learning Centre of Expertise of The Hague University of Applied Sciences. This Centre includes five research groups that focus on Transformative Teaching & Learning, Participation & Inclusion and Engagement with Technology. The mission of the Centre is: ‘To research the processes that create and justify equal opportunities for students, citizens and professionals, and to actively promote inclusive education and an inclusive society’. It goes without saying that you will contribute to this mission within the new Learning Technology & Analytics research group.
We are looking for a passionate professor who will collaborate with researchers & lectureres- in order to shape and lead the research on advanced learning technology in higher education At the same time, you will find opportunities to cooperate within the centre of expertise and with other degree programmes at the university of applied sciences. You will combine the focus on learning technology with educational, social, psychological, and anthropological perspectives, to address issues such as inclusiveness, participation, talent development, global citizenship and ethics. This establishes the research group, together with the university of applied sciences, as an innovative player in this research area.
Outline of the research group & the position
As a professor, you are the connector: you work together with colleagues and students of the departments and faculties of The Hague University of Applied Sciences. You develop lasting relationships with other universities of applied sciences and connect the THUAS context to (inter)national research programmes. You will lead and inspire a soon to be founded interdisciplinary research group of professor-researchers. Together with them, you conduct practice-oriented research. You also work closely with support services and education: a lot of the research is directly based on questions raised by The Hague University of Applied Sciences itself.
You are an innovator and thought leader. With the Learning Technology & Analytics research group, you generate and publish new insights on the impact of advanced learning technology (such as AI usage) on tangible and intangible learning and development processes of students and professionals. Therefore, creating high-quality and inclusive education. You use action research to work together with professors and students to develop new technological learning environments in labs.
As the research group will also supply important learning analytics data to the project Study Data at THUAS, the professor will be supported by a senior researcher (this position is being recruited simultaneously).
The research group is both part of the Global & Inclusive Learning Centre of Expertise and of the Faculty IT & Design. This faculty includes the bachelor programmes: HBO-ICT, Communication & Multimedia Design and Applied Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (as of September 2022).

We are looking for an experienced and driven researcher with extensive experience in conducting (practice-based) research on learning technology with a relevant network. Someone who can connect people and inspire others about the potential of advanced learning technology in higher education.
