As Business Development Manager you will manage a portfolio of technology-based innovations within the Erasmus MC Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and report to the Manager TTO. Your main responsibility will be the successful transfer of intellectual property, starting from the initial discussion with an inventor up to a deal with a (newly formed) company or investor. Erasmus MC stimulates entrepreneurship and an entrepreneurial attitude. Your main focus area will be the MedTech innovations.

Your main duties will consist of scouting and screening of new inventions, evaluation of the potential market(s) based on the invention's current stage of development, unique features and benefits as well as competition in the market and market needs, size and dynamics. Part of this evaluation includes options for Intellectual Property protection such as patents. Based on the conclusions of your evaluation, you will engage in discussions with commercial parties and investors to negotiate licenses and start-up formation. Building good relationships with faculty members as well as potential licensees is a crucial part of this role.

• A Master's degree in the life sciences with a technical interest is required with at least 3-6 years of solid experience in a biomedical commercial environment.
• An additional degree (PhD or MBA) is preferred, but could be compensated with additional experience.
• Working knowledge of the licensing process and technology transfer is essential, as well as legal knowledge and negotiation skills.
• Affinity and experience with the formation of new (highly innovative) ventures is essential.
• Furthermore, you bring with you a relevant network, team spirit, an open-minded can-do mentality and excellent oral and written communication skills in at least Dutch and English.

• The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 5.483,- (scale 11), depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours.

• Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
