The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance is looking for a temporary Student Affairs Officer.

Job description

The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance offers an intensive, one-year MSc in Public Policy and Human Development, MPP for short. As student affairs officer you will contribute to the successful running of the Thesis Track and Exam Coordination for this programme. 

In this position you will join the Student Affairs team and support the MPP programme in overseeing thesis administration and exam coordination. Specifically, you will do the following:

For thesis administration:

  1. Create and oversee registration forms (thesis supervisor registration, thesis proposal submission
  2. Arrange and distribute needed documents to students and supervisors
  3. Act as point of contact for thesis administration questions from students, staff, and supervisors
  4. Remind students of upcoming deadlines and ensure all needed information is shared with students in a timely manner
  5. Meet regularly with the thesis coordination team

For exam coordination:

  1. Share important information with coordinators to support exam preparation
  2. Make sure relevant information is shared with students in a timely manner
  3.  If exams are in person:

    a. Reserve and arrange the exam location
    b. Make sure all materials are present at the exam location in a confidential manner

Requirements

  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team.
  • You are fluent in English and Dutch. 
  • You have relevant previous work experience.
  • You know your way around computer programs such as Outlook, Excel, Access, Canvas and SAP.
  • You have a great sense of humour.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 6 months (to cover maternity leave).

The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance (MGSoG) prepares professionals and researchers for policy analysis, risk assessment, policy design, policy monitoring, policy evaluation and methods and techniques of policy research. The School is integrated within United Nations University – MERIT (UNU-MERIT).  The School is the centre for the institute’s double degree Master of Science in Public Policy and Human Development, which aims to train public policy professionals for the global community. 

UNU-MERIT, including MGSoG, has been closely involved in research for a variety of UN agencies, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the World Bank.
