Job description

We're looking for a driven communications officer/web manager to help enhance the services provided across ERIM, which supports the world-class management and economics research of RSM and ESE.

Your main tasks
As communications officer/web manager for the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM), you will:
  • be responsible for co-ordinating the various communication activities of ERIM, and ensuring the timely execution of these activities
  • contribute to the (strategic) development of the institute's (research) communication plan in support of ERIM's mission, in particular regarding key areas of research policy (such as Open Science) and research activities, and the recruitment of PhD candidates for ERIM's full-time and part-time PhD programmes
  • provide a substantial contribution to increasing the impact and visibility of research of the ERIM research community, and respond to communications requests from the ERIM management team and the ERIM research community, such as developing and designing websites, and assisting in planning, co-ordinating communications, and creating awareness campaigns for specific projects or ERIM events
  • ensure that the various communication channels, such as the ERIM website, the websites of the ERIM teams and themes, the ERIM newsletter, social media accounts, and ERIM video channels are kept up to date
  • work in close collaboration with colleagues with a wide range of backgrounds in diverse departments, such as ICT teams, researchers and colleagues in the marketing and communication departments at ESE and RSM.

MSc or MA degree in communication/media studies, social sciences, or related discipline

Your required competencies
We encourage you to apply for this role if you:
  • are an outstanding and driven communicator with an educational background (MSc, MA degree) in social sciences or a related discipline
  • can demonstrate excellence in understanding complex information and communicating it to relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • have excellent technical skills, including content management systems (preferably Typo3), database management, MS Office and SEO (Google Analytics). Programming skills would be preferable too.
  • have experience in supervising (student) assistants, managing and using social media accounts, co-ordinating and managing printing projects, and participating in tendering procedures
  • are a proactive problem-solver with experience with strategy and project development and implementation, preferably within an academic environment, and with the ability to achieve results through managing of diverse stakeholders
  • are a results-oriented, analytical and highly-sociable team player, with strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • can interact with various offices, and build, maintain and manage a network of stakeholders across and connected to RSM, ESE, ERIM and EUR.
  • can work independently as well as in a team, with a hands-on and pro-active attitude, and a keen eye for detail
  • are able to work under time pressure and can prioritise your own workload and manage multiple project simultaneously
  • have broad work experience in a similar position, preferably in a (research-intensive) university or research agency, and have affinity with core aspects of research and key areas of research policy
  • have excellent spoken and written proficiency in the English language (C1/C2)
  • are committed to high-quality, client-oriented service delivery.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

This is an interesting role for a mid-career professional with high potential and drive to contribute to the vision and mission of both RSM and ESE - leading academic research faculties in their respective fields.

The conditions of employment comply with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO NU). We offer a temporary contract of 30.4 hours per week (32 work hours).

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,846 up to a maximum of € 4,490 gross per month (scale 10 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours per week.

Erasmus University's employment conditions also include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
