Join us to lead and grow the thriving 4TU.ResearchData community!

Job description

4TU.ResearchData is a repository for research data and software in the technical and exact sciences, open for use by all researchers. It boasts around 8,000 datasets and research software, from aerospace engineering to nanotechnology to zoology. The repository has a broad community of users and supporters who advance FAIR data practices.

4TU.ResearchData is run by a consortium of four technical universities in the 4TU.Federation (TU Delft, Twente, TU Eindhoven and Wageningen University & Research) and is hosted by TU Delft.

As the 4TU.ResearchData Community Manager your main task will be to lead and grow the 4TU.ResearchData community. You will engage with discipline-specific communities from consortium institutions and beyond, and will stimulate collaboration for the use and reuse of research data. You will also help subject-based communities develop standards, workflows and best practices for managing and sharing research data. You will coordinate the activities of thematic working groups, increase the impact of shared datasets through blog posts and social media campaigns, keep community members engaged through Slack and the monthly newsletter, oversee the FAIR Data Fund and support the grantees, run our internship programme, as well as as proactively engage with researchers on writing collaborative grant proposals.

You will also encourage researchers and research support staff to join the community and to make use of the 4TU.ResearchData repository, explaining the benefits of publishing data to researchers. You will also highlight the benefits of institutional membership of 4TU.ResearchData to other institutions and at international fora. The initial focus will be in the Netherlands, especially within the universities of the 4TU federation, but this is also expected to expand to an international level.

Your main task is to lead and grow the 4TU.ResearchData community, emphasising subject areas within the technical and exact sciences. You will:

  • Recruit and onboard new community members, stimulate their engagement in community activities, and drive and inspire the community.
  • Identify subject areas in the technical and exact sciences where there is potential to push forward the FAIR research data agenda.
  • Help develop or contribute to subject-specific communities of data stewards and researchers, in particular amongst the consortium organisations.
  • Undertake a number of activities to encourage data reuse within these specific subject areas, e.g. identify and develop best practice, run workshops and webinars, develop training and demos, write blog posts, run social media campaigns.
  • Undertake international collaboration with infrastructures and groups sharing similar agendas.
  • Promote the use of 4TU.ResearchData nationally and internationally.
