Job description

The Division of Mental Health, Maastricht University is looking for 1 motivated PhD student who is fluent in Dutch and English, to join a recently granted multipartner European research project in life sciences, that is aims at personalizing medication prescription for psychiatric patients (www.psy-pgx.org). You will work on a highly innovative Horizon2020 project in a dynamic and stimulating work environment (A New Intervention for Implementation of Pharmacogenetics in Psychiatry | PSY-PGx Project | H2020 | CORDIS | European Commission (europa.eu).

Requirements

The successful candidate has a Master’s degree in Medicine, Neuroscience, Psychology or a related field and a strong interest in the neurobiology of psychiatric disorders. We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and creative personality with excellent communication skills, who is willing and able to work independently as well as in an interdisciplinary research team. Experience with patient assessments, data collection and administration in eCRF in CASTOR, as well as statistics and data analysis are highly desirable. The candidate should have a very good command of English and Dutch (both written and oral) to be able to maintain excellent communication with patients, referrers and international fellow researchers.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

The full-time position is offered for four years (1+3), with a yearly evaluation.
Your salary would be € 2.443,- gross per month in the first year up to € 3.122,- gross per month in the fourth year according to the PhD-candidate salary scale. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance.

The PhD will be conducted at the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience, Division Mental Health, in the Genetic Imaging group, under the supervision of Dr Roos van Westrhenen and (PsyQ/Parnassia/Maastricht University), Professor Therese van Amelsvoort, and in collaboration with several international consortia. The School for Mental Health and Neuroscience (MHeNS) is one of the Research Institutes of FHML, with more than 270 PhD students and around 100 faculty members (https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/research/mhens/mhens/mhens).
