The Department of International and European Law at the Utrecht University School of Law is looking for an assistant professor who will be involved in teaching in the field of EU law, law and economics and regulation (in different policy areas). The prospective assistant professor will be involved in both Bachelor's and Master's programmes, in particular the UU LLM programme Law and Economics. The assistant professor will also supervise Bachelo's and Master's theses and may be assigned coordination and tutoring tasks. Although the emphasis will be on academic teaching, the position includes 0,3 fte research.

We are looking for a candidate with broad knowledge of EU law and expertise in at least one of the fields of regulation, enforcement, compliance and/or law & economics.
In particular the following requirements apply:

• You hold a PhD, preferably in the field of EU alw, law and economics, regulation, enforcement, compliance or a related field.
• Research experience and/or an interest in the domains of financial markets or the regulation of energy markets is particularly welcome.
• You have experience and strong skills in academic teaching.
• Experience in developing and coordinating courses is an asset.
• You have an excellent command of written and spoken English. A working knowledge of Dutch is an asset. Non-Dutch speaking candidates should be prepared to acquire a good passive knowledge of the Dutch language.
• You have a Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) or are willing to acquire one soon.
• You are a team player, have affinity with Open Science ideas and have strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and students in a diverse and international environment. You are committed to the Utrecht University TRIPLE model as an approach to academic work.

We offer a position (1.0 FTE) for a initial period of 12 months. In case of a good performance, you will be offered an indefinite employment contract. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience  - ranges between €3,821 and €5,230 (scale 11 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
