The research in the Tanenbaum lab aims to uncover how genes are decoded to generate the correct proteins and how the accuracy of genetic decoding is determined. We study both human and viral gene regulation in living cells using advanced microscopy. For more information, please visit our website (https://www.hubrecht.eu/research-groups/tanenbaum-group/). In addition to multiple types of microscopy, we use different mammalian cell culture model systems (including organoids), FACS, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), molecular cloning, CRISPR and different viral assays. In addition to research, the applicant will be responsible for the daily operation of the lab, including ordering reagents, ensuring lab safety, training of new employees, and attending department meetings.

Requirements:

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled technician with a HLO background and experience with molecular biology and cell culture. A minimum of 3 years of working experience is required. Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and cloning is preferred. In addition to experimental work, good organizational and communication skills are required. The working language in our international team is English, the candidate should therefore have excellent English communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with an extension after positive evaluation.

Terms of employment
Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is [[salarisMin]] and the maximum salary is [[salarisMax]] gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale [[ufoSchaal]] cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW). This is exclusive of 8% vacation allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet allowance, home working allowance and pension accrual with ABP.

The Hubrecht Institute is a research institute focusing on developmental and stem cell biology.
