Job description

As collaborative grant advisor, you report to the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) Director of Grants. You're responsible for early identification and creation of collaborative grant opportunities for national and European funding for our researchers working in Social Sciences. This also means you will become a member of the Grants Office at RSM.

Internally, your primary objective is to scout for research or project ideas and to identify funding opportunities. In addition, you provide guidance to researchers throughout the grant application process. Thanks to your organisational skills, you set up a support structure for researchers which helps them to write high-quality proposals. You enable the creation of a culture among researchers that stimulates them to apply for grants, fosters their engagement and creates lasting partnerships with impact.

Externally, you build and maintain a network with external relations from public and private institutes. You take on the role of point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. And work in close collaboration with the RSM Project Desk (post-award funding support) and colleagues from Business & Project Control (BPC).

Your main tasks
  • Scout for research project ideas within RSM;
  • Identify and create opportunities for collaborative research grants at NWO and other national and European (Horizon Europe, Erasmus+) research funders;
  • Support researchers to apply for collaborative research grants, plus coach and help them throughout the application process;
  • Act as first point of contact for RSM researchers who want to apply for a collaborative grant;
  • Organise internal alignment with relevant research grant processes such as financial and project control;
  • Organise funding information sessions, training sessions and workshops about collaborative research grants - specifically, in the field of Social Sciences; and
  • Proactively engage with external contacts: partner institutes, societal stakeholders and relevant agencies, to anticipate new developments and help build consortia.

Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR)

Requirements

  • Completed education on an academic level, preferably with a doctorate in Social Sciences;
  • Several years (3+) of relevant work experience in supporting, advising researchers in the application of collaborative research grants - knowledge of Horizon programmes is key;
  • Experience in acquiring grants is preferable; and
  • Knowledge of the procedures relating to grants from funding schemes.

  • Excellent verbal, written command of Dutch and English (CEFR level C1).

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Initially for 12 months; in case of a positive assessment the contract can be turned into a fixed employment contract.

We offer a contract initially for one year (0.8-1.0 FTE, full-time appointment is 38 hours). In case of a positive assessment the contract can be turned into a fixed employment contract.

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 3.807,- (scale 11 CAO NU) gross per month and up to a maximum of € 5.922,- gross per month (scale 12 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.
