Job description

Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) is looking for an enthusiastic junior Lecturer in Economics, Business Economics and/or Finance. As a junior lecturer you are part of the teaching staff of the Undergraduate School and responsible for teaching activities in our Bachelor’s programme Economics & Business Economics. You are involved in teaching tutorials and become the tutor of a group of freshmen students. In addition, you contribute to all other activities, related to teaching in the Bachelor's programme. The selection of courses to teach depends on your interests and background. Relevant economics courses engage in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and economics of the public sector. Relevant business economics courses are related to marketing, strategy and organization, entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship, market dynamics and innovation, and business ethics. Relevant finance courses are related to financial accounting, management accounting, corporate finance, and investment management. Candidates may also be requested to teach first- and second-year courses on mathematics and statistics.

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have the potential to become an excellent teacher in the field of economics, business economics and/or finance. In particular, candidates are expected to:
  • hold a Master’s degree in economics, business economics, finance or a related discipline;
  • contribute to a wide range of courses and have affinity with the full spectrum of courses taught in U.S.E.’s Bachelor's programme;
  • have excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • speak and write English fluently.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary position (0.8 - 1.0 FTE) for a period of four years. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience  - ranges between €2,846 and €4,490 (scale 10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
