Job opportunity for an Assistant Professor of Global Challenges in the Anthropocene in the department of Public Law and Governance (PLG). We are looking for a candidate with a sound knowledge of public international law or jurisprudence to teach in the Global Law Bachelor Program and conduct research the area of global challenges in the Anthropocene. PLG is a large, diverse and interdisciplinary department, home to nearly 100 academic staff and a range of legal and social science disciplines. You will develop and grow in teaching as well as research, both individually and as part of a team of ambitious scholars.
  
As assistant professor, you develop and teach courses in the Global Law Bachelor programme, including Introduction to Global Law I and Introduction to Global Law II, and potentially in the Liberal Arts bachelor or LLM courses. You will teach modules in jurisprudence, law and society and comparative law, including introductory skills in legal analysis.  Teaching in the Global Law Bachelor will consist of comparative and transnational legal education rather than specialized focus on a single jurisdiction. You will also have the opportunity to supervise master theses. You are expected to participate in research carried out by the Department of Public Law and Governance, with a particular preference for scholars whose research interests connect with the research agenda of the ‘Constitutionalizing in the Anthropocene’ project within the signature plan of Global Law and Governance. The intended ratio between teaching and research is roughly 40%-40%, with the remaining 20% for administrative duties.

You have a PhD in Law. You have a research profile in public international law or jurisprudence, including legal theory and law and society research, preferably with clear connections to issues of globalization and the research agenda of the ‘Constitutionalizing in the Anthropocene’ project. Your growth potential in the field of research is evident in the quality of your doctoral thesis, your publication trackrecord, and/or your experience working on externally funded research projects. You have scientific integrity and will contribute to an open and diversified culture of excellence. You have demonstrable and relevant teaching experience and good didactic skills. In addition, you are a collaborator with good communication skills. You are fluent in English. You are prepared to obtain a Basic Teaching Qualification (in Dutch: BKO) within the first year of your appointment. You are committed to be an active member of our team and the department and to integrate in the environment provided by the department and the school.

This is a position for 0.8 -1.0 FTE (32-40 hours per week). 

The salary amounts to a minimum of €3,821 and a maximum of €5,230 gross per month for full-time employment, based on UFO profile Assistant Professor 2 and salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Tilburg University uses a neutral remuneration system for salary scaling that is based on relevant education and work experience.

This is a vacancy for a permanent position in accordance with Article 2.3 paragraph 1 of the CLA for Dutch universities and concerns a temporary employment contract with permanent prospects. You will initially be given a temporary employment contract for the duration of 12 (internal candidates) or 18 months (external candidates), with the prospect of permanent employment.

You are entitled to a vacation allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of your gross annual income. If you work 40 hours per week, you will receive 41 paid days of leave per year.
