The Amsterdam ELLIS unit is looking for a proactive, organized Community Manager to help build the AI research community in Amsterdam. The Community Manager will be central to supporting the unit’s initiatives, creating processes for management, provide adequate transfer of information and overseeing day-to-day affairs.
The Amsterdam ELLIS unit is part of the ELLIS Society and associated European projects. This network of excellence strives to bring Europe to the forefront of developments in AI by connecting researchers and students to initiate cross-country collaborations. The unit acts as hub for the local ecosystem. The unit supports and mobilizes the research community, and connects them to activities and opportunities across the entire ELLIS network.
What are you going to do
The role of the Community Manager is twofold: to support our local AI researchers here in Amsterdam, and to be the connection between the Amsterdam unit and the ELLIS Society (and associated EU projects). The Community Manager will need to stay up-to-date with ELLIS events, processes, and developments, and offers additional support for the ELLIS network where necessary. At the local level, the Community Manager manages our ecosystem: maintains our partnerships, connects our researchers to opportunities, and organizes events.

Fixed-term contract: 6 months.
Our offer
We offer a temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of 6 months. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible. If we assess your performance positive, your contract will be extended with 12 months.
The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranges between €2,710 to €3,619 (scale 8). This does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% year-end allowance. The UFO profile Administrator 3 is applicable. For this position we can not sponsor a visa. The Collective Labour Agreement of Universities of the Netherlands is applicable.

Beyond acting as the local touchpoint for the ELLIS Society, ELLIS Amsterdam brings together top talent from local stakeholders to provide opportunities for students, faculty, researchers, and industry, conduct fundamental basic research, and develop infrastructure for excellence in machine learning in the Netherlands and throughout Europe.
