Job description

The Maastricht Student Rowing Association Saurus is an ambitious association in the growing, international student city of Maastricht. We are looking for a new professional coach who will instruct coaches for our first year rowing teams starting from the new rowing season in September 2022.

In order for our rowing teams to compete at the national level in the top half of their field, Saurus needs a fresh look and a new impulse. We want to lift competitive rowing to a higher level and are looking for someone who sees a challenge in creating conditions to motivate, enthuse and support young, enthusiastic coaches. On behalf of the MSRV Saurus board, the professional coach is responsible for managing the coaches of our competition teams. In consultation with the board, the professional coach determines an annual plan including the technical line for the competition rowers and a training schedule including training weekends and competitions to be started. In addition, the professional coach is responsible for the selection of the competition teams. The professional coach will focus on coaching young coaches in order to increase the quality and quantity of coaches at Saurus.

Requirements

Do you have the following qualities and skills?

·         Minimum Higher vocational education level (equivalent of HBO in the Dutch system)

·         RC3 (pre is RC4) or a corresponding level obtained through experience

o    Belgium: trainer B (trainer A is pre)

o    Germany: Trainer/-in A

o    Other: same regulations as the Dutch/German or Belgium level apply

·         Good communication and organisational skills

·         You work with a clear vision to take competitive rowing to the next level

·         You have experience in guiding coaches of first year rowing teams

·         You have affinity with student rowing and its culture

·         You are available for at least 16 hours a week, divided over at least 2 days per week with the possibility to work in the weekend every now and then

·         You have a good command of the Dutch and English language orally and in writing

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

-       Temporary employment for 1 year; the temporary contract can be extended when performance is satisfactory.

-       The period in which you will work runs from 1 September – 1 July (excluding pre-set fixed and bank holidays). In this period of 40 weeks you will work 16 hours per week. The fixed salary will be paid out over 12 months.

The vacancy concerns a job position within scale 8 (Sports Instructor 3, €2.710-€3.619 on a fulltime contract) in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) of the VSNU (Association of universities in the Netherlands).
