Job description

UCR is looking for an Education and Research Support Officer with a strong profile in the field of electronics, computer science/engineering and/or robotics support. The officer will assist in courses and group projects related to electrical, robotics and mechatronic product design (including organizing workshops on specific topics) and will assist in guiding individual student projects in these fields. Furthermore, the staff member will coordinate the design and realization of the project facilities and will be responsible for the maintenance and organization of those facilities.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has:

  • a background in Electronics, Computer Science/Engineering, or Robotics, at least on MBO-level;
  • experience with the design, responsibility, and maintenance of a technical facility (e.g. 3D printer, electron microscope, laser cutter, robotic arm);
  • knowledge of basic electronics;
  • preferably experience in teaching and guiding students;
  • preferably some programming (e.g. Python) and Arduino/microcomputer experience;
  • a service-focused, proactive ,and flexible attitude, and;
  • good command of the English language.

Conditions of employment

We offer a one-year appointment as an Education and Research Support Officer at UCR in Middelburg. The first year will be a probationary period; following positive assessment in the first year, the position will be extended for an indefinite period of time. The employment will be for 0.6 FTE (22.8 - 24 hours per week).

 Salary will be based on VSNU salary scales in the range from min. scale 7 to max. scale 8 of the Collective Labor Agreement Dutch Universities. Commuting costs within the Netherlands will be partly reimbursed according to the policy. Furthermore, UCR offers secondary benefits such as:

  • end of Year Bonus (8.3%);
  • holiday allowance (8%);
  • pension arrangement at ABP;
  • multiple choices model;
  • holiday leave hours of 232 per year based on fulltime employment.
