As one of your main tasks, you will be responsible for setting up, coordinating and leading contract research projects with pharmaceutical companies that require medical imaging, including PET, SPECT, CT and MRI. You are expected to plan and coordinate the activities of the project within the Medical Imaging Center, monitor the progress and execution of the project(s), generate study-related documents (e.g., trail master file, SOP, manual, study report) and provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders, such as the sponsor (CROs or pharmaceutical industry). As a project manager you will be ultimately responsible for ensuring that your project is completed in time with the right quality. Additionally, you will provide support for and training of scientific staff and PhD students with respect to research legislation and policies, data stewardship, grant support and imaging-related operations within the department.

Your specific tasks and responsibilities include:
- Supporting the negotiation of contracts with sponsors.
- Translating clinical protocols into imaging related tasks.
- Converting a study protocol into a budget proposal.
- Act as a daily point of contact for the principal investigator/sponsor and all members of the project team.
- Supporting the submission of project proposals to the Medical Ethical Committee or Competent Authority.
- Initiating and managing projects in accordance with all relevant guidelines, legislation and SOPs.
- Liaison with the planning offices in order to schedule procedures that fit the project’s timeline.
- Being responsible for the project’s documentation and compliance.
- Monitoring the project progress in relation to the project plan and previously defined performance indicators in terms of quality and budget.
- Reporting the progress to the internal project team and external stakeholders.
- Managing deadlines and deliverables internally and externally.
- Managing project finances in accordance with the contract and budget.
- Identify risks and develop and implement plans to mitigate risks in collaboration with team members and other stakeholders.
- Organizing and participating in monitoring and auditing visits.
- Writing scientific reports for completed studies/projects.
- Participating in research meetings.
- Implement new policies, guidelines and legislation related to research.
- Training and support of staff and PhD students in FAIR data stewardship and compliance with regulations (e.g., privacy, GCP).

- Master degree or equivalent, in a relevant biomedical field.
- Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or BROK certification.
- Experience with clinical research.
- Knowledge about the field of medical imaging.
- Experience with project management.
- Leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Dutch is preferred, but not critical.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Capacity to work under pressure.

The UMCG has a preventive Hepatitis B policy. The UMCG can provide you with the vaccination, should it be required for your position.
In case of specific professions a ‘Certificate of Good Conduct’ is required.

In principle this concerns an employment contract for 32–36 hours per week. It is for a period of one year with the possibility of extension. Your salary will be a maximum of € 4.800 gross per month (scale 10 from 1-8-2022), depending on your qualifications and relevant experience, based on a full-time appointment. In addition, the UMCG will offer you 8% holiday pay, and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for Medical Centres (CAO-UMC).

Medical Imaging Center

You will be working as a project manager at the Project Management Office (with three other colleagues) within the Medical Imaging Center of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). The UMCG is the largest hospital in the Netherlands and the largest employer of the Northern-Netherlands. The Medical Imaging Center of the UMCG, comprising the department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and the department of Radiology, is a multidisciplinary center that provides state-of-the-art medical imaging services for patientcare, research, training and education and front-end research activities together with its internal and external collaborations. The Project Management Office of the Medical Imaging Center was created in 2018 to coordinate and support research projects with pharmaceutical industries, to improve research quality and to train and support scientific staff in data management. The Project Management Office is instrumental in the implementation of research-related laws, regulations and guidelines and the supervision of compliance with these rules. This includes the implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures related with the research policy of the Medical Imaging Center.
