The LUMC is looking for a researcher into the economic aspects of stem cell therapy, for the Medical Decision Making unit of the Biomedical Data Sciences department. Do you want to conduct economic evaluations and investigate the feasibility of therapies and do you want to be part of the journey of the pioneering consortium (reNEW) to generate novel stem cell-based therapies for patients? Job description

The developments in the field of stem cell research are progressing steadily. In addition to a lot of laboratory research, there are now also clinical studies going on into stem cell therapies. Little is known about economic aspects. The aim of this project is to change that, in collaboration with researchers from Denmark and Australia. You will conduct economic evaluations of specific therapies to explore the feasibility of these therapies early in the development process. There is also room for your own ideas, for example about economic methodology, costs and quality of life, market forces and reimbursement.

Requirements

To be appointed as a postdoc, you have a PhD in health technology assessment, (health) economics, or a similar field. Do you not have a PhD, but do you have convincing research qualities and experience in a relevant field? Then you can also apply and be appointed as a PhD candidate. You are also a clear thinker, curious, enterprising, organizationally strong and you can work independently as well as in an international team. You have good communication skills, both in Dutch and English and both orally and in writing.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 years.

You will initially receive an employment contract for two years, with the option of extension. If you are appointed as a postdoc, you also get a more supervisory role within research projects and more responsibility.
You can be appointed as a postdoc or a PhD, depending on knowledge and experience.

As a postdoc you will receive a contract for an initial period of two years, salary scale 10 (max. €4,707, CAO UMC).
As a PhD you will receive a contract for four years, salary scale PRO (max. €3,271,-, CAO UMC).

The Medical Decision Making unit of the Biomedical Data Sciences department of the LUMC is an interdisciplinary research department. Health scientists, psychologists, economists and doctors are involved here in the analysis and support of medical decision-making. The current research project is part of the reNEW partnership, together with researchers in Denmark and Australia.
