Erasmus University College (EUC) invites applications for a Tutor position (0.4-0.5 fte) for its Economics and Business department.

Job description

As an EUC Tutor you will be assigned to guide up to four tutorial groups of approximately twelve students each. Our courses adopt a small-scall, active learning environment. During Quad 1 (22/08-14/10), you will tutor the course Marketing, and in Quad 2 (24/10-16/12), you will tutor an introductory economics course. Depending on expertise and interest, you might tutor in other (business or economics) courses in Quad 3 (23/01-24/03) and Quad 4 (03/04-02/06)). Additionally, EUC tasks its tutors to perform corrector duties regarding assessment work during the courses under the supervision of course coordinators and to assist in recruitment events with aspiring students.

Requirements

  • You are currently in the process of completing your Master’s degree in Business, Business Economics, or Economics;
  • You are willing and able to guide tutorial groups on a broader range of subjects, but are particularly well-trained in business (economics);
  • You have demonstrable affinity with teaching;
  • You have excellent communication skills and you are highly proficient in the English language;
  • You look forward to working together in a team of tutors and (senior) lecturers and to becoming a proactive member of a stimulating academic community that is the hallmark of a university college.

Conditions of employment

The vacant position is part-time (0.4-0.5 fte). The new Tutor is invited to join Erasmus University College per 1 August 2021. Contracts will initially be running for a period of six months.

The workload for a Tutor is not evenly distributed across the academic year. Do expect a relative higher workload during the Quads and a relative lower workload during the remaining months, so plan accordingly. Tutors are also required to be flexible with their working days, as the scheduling by EUC of all tutorials is dominant and by its nature quite inflexible. Weekly meetings for preparation, coordination and reflective purposes require your attendance as well.
