The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) Located in Amsterdam, NKI is an internationally renowned institute dedicated to fundamental, translational and clinical cancer research, and the only comprehensive cancer center in The Netherlands. It is a dynamic institute accommodating over 50 research groups and many advanced core facilities, including genomics, flow cytometry, proteomics, and microscopy.

Project information
Our Chromatin Genomics laboratory develops and applies new genomics tools to study the structure and functions of genomes, chromosomes and chromatin. This will help to gain fundamental insight that is essential to fully understand cancer. We aim to elucidate how chromatin proteins work together with DNA sequences to package the genome and regulate gene expression. We study the domain organization of chromatin, and we investigate how enhancers and promoters function in this context.

Requirements

An ambitious technician with experience with DNA and RNA techniques, cell culture and transfections. We seek an enthusiastic and accurate technician who likes to work with novel genomics technologies to study gene regulation in mammalian cells. Affinity with basic bioinformatics is appreciated but not required. You will be responsible for carrying out experiments independently but in close collaboration with other researchers in our lab. Furthermore, you will contribute to some lab management tasks. Proficiency in English and good communicative skills are important requirements, as is a team player mentality.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 years, with the possibility for extension.

The vacancy is available October 1st 2022. You will be employed for a minimum period of 2 years, with the possibility for extension. The gross salary per month can range from € 2.554,- to € 3.468,- (salary scale 45 according to the Collective Labour Agreement General Hospitals based on proven qualifications). The terms of employment will be in accordance with the CAO Hospitals and includes an end-of-year bonus and holiday pay.
