Job description
Excellent education is one of the central objectives of TU Delft. Within the faculty of Applied Sciences, we are therefore hiring scientists with a passion for education. These new colleagues will primarily focus on education, next to performing scientific research. We are looking for a colleague in the field of computational biology / bioinformatics, who will contribute to the program in Nanobiology, and potentially also to the faculty’s other programs Life Science and Technology, Applied Physics, and Molecular Science and Technology.
In this position, the emphasis is on providing, renewing and developing high-quality, cutting-edge education within Nanobiology, in particular in courses on computational biology, bioinformatics and programming.
Requirements
TU Delft is a bilingual organisation. Although an excellent command of both Dutch and English are necessary for optimal performance, a less than perfect command of the Dutch language does not have to be an obstacle to a successful application. We support further development of the Dutch or English language. Teaching in the Nanobiology program is entirely in English.
Fixed-term contract: 6 years.
Conditions of employment
We offer a six-year tenure-track position as assistant professor. In the fifth year we will decide if you will be offered a permanent faculty position, based on performance indicators agreed upon at the start of the appointment. If given tenure, we expect that you have the potential to grow towards an associate professor and possibly full professor role in the future.

Faculty Applied Sciences

Department of Bionanoscience
The Department of Bionanoscience focuses on the fundamental understanding of biological processes, from the level of single molecules to the full complexity of living cells. This research provides fascinating insight in the molecular mechanisms that lead to cellular function. Furthermore it enables the in vitro bottom-up construction of cellular machinery and it impacts applications ranging from biomolecular diagnostics to novel antibiotics and targeted nanomedicine. The department features a strongly multidisciplinary and international team of scientists, whose research areas include single-molecule biophysics, synthetic biology, as well as (quantitative) cell biology.
