Can you imagine a future with autonomous crop production systems that provide nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables locally and on-demand? Are you enthusiastic about using Customer Behaviour Data, Consumer Health Data and apply Data Science methods to realize a Next Generation Food Ecosystem? Then this is the opportunity you are looking for!
Your work will focus on design of a Data Platform that is the center of a food ecosystem containing local Greenhouses and Vertical Farms. Your work will focus on controlled environment agriculture (greenhouses and vertical farms), where you will develop novel methodologies to predict fruit and vegetable quality based on their growth conditions.
Your starting package includes a PhD position, who will work on this topic under your supervision.
The position is part of a multi-disciplinary programme entitled 'High-tech & data-driven agri-food system of the future'. Together with four other tenure trackers of the four Dutch technology universities (4TU), industry partners and government stakeholders you will contribute to novel high-tech local food systems which can be scaled to many urban environments in the world.
You contribute to research, teaching, and knowledge valorization. You will:
- carry out high-tech business research, with a genuine interest in operating at crossroads of Data Science, Information Architecture and Business areas with a specific focus on realizing new business ecosystems;
- improve your home-based specific expertise and develop an interdisciplinary research line;
- build our research and teaching ecosystem (e.g., by acquiring external research funding);
- (co-)teach and coordinate courses in our Bachelor and Master programs of Business & IT, Industrial Engineering and International Business Administration;
- guide students from these programs in their graduation assignment;
- develop expertise in novel data driven research methods and work jointly with BMS lab (a lab that develops expertise in using industrial and behavioural research datasets for research);
- You evaluate your solutions in the light of societally relevant values, which could be security, safety, efficiency, quality of care, privacy, innovation potential or others;
- contribute towards the supervision of PhD students.
