The DSBG is part of the Faculty of Medicine and is the only institution in Switzerland with a focus on Sports, Exercise and Health. As such, it represents a unique Center of Excellence with a focus on "Prevention, rehabilitation, and health promotion through sports and exercise".
The research and teaching activities of the Department of Exercise and Sports Science focuses on the development, research, and implementation of physical activity interventions in healthy populations and in those with pre-existing conditions (children, adults, seniors). Special emphasis is placed on prevention-oriented exercise interventions with a personalized approach. The methodological core competencies encompass biomechanical, neuromuscular, neurophysiological and performance physiological measurement methods.
Your position
The professorship will further develop the DSBG's orientation on health by focusing on "Applied Exercise Physiology ". In particular, the focus is placed on (1) the relationship between physical activity and exercise training on physiological processes, health and physical well-being, primarily in healthy individuals, but also in individuals with pre-existing conditions, and (2) the promotion of sports and physical activity in society through translational projects (from the laboratory to population). Willingness to continue the curricular content of the Department of Exercise and Sports Science in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs is expected, as well as active participation in academic governance on all levels.
