Job description

Are you a hardworking lecturer willing to impact Geo-Information Science and the new generation of students? Do you have experience in Geographic Information Science and master concepts of GIS, data science (e.g. machine and deep learning) and scripting, among other things? Willing to join us as an enthusiastic teammate for successful education, and align it with the thematic domains of the GRS group: from urban computing and digital humanities to nature conservation and land use characterization? Then we like to get you onboard!

You will contribute to our bachelor (BSc) and master (MSc) courses, while also adding to the group's research excellence. This includes participating in the existing education portfolio of the group in Geo Information Science. You will also take part in creative and groundbreaking scientific research, for instance by supervising Master thesis in GIS.

The educational tasks will be conducted at the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing (GRS) at Wageningen University under supervision of Prof.dr. A. Klippel and Dr. H. Bartholomeus.

Requirements

  • A hardworking and curious colleague who has:graduated in Geo-information Science or a closely related field at Master of Science (MSc) level;
  • a track-record of successful teamwork and educational activities;
  • a true love for education;
  • good didactic skills for teaching at both BSc and MSc level;
  • excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • proficiency in both Dutch and English (C1) is an absolute pre-requisite.

Conditions of employment

We offer a full time position at lecturer level for two years.
Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:
  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • the option to accrue additional compensation / holiday hours by working more, up to 40 hours per week;

  • a fixed December bonus of 8.3%;
  • excellent pension scheme.
Gross salary per month starting €2.960,- in the first year rising up to €4.670,- (scale 10) for a full working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for the Wageningen University.
