This is your chance to join the Education Support Centre (ESC) to support the development and use of Brightspace, for our courses.

The team
The team Online Learning Environment is part of ESC. The team is responsible for supporting in the design, development and maintenance of the courses for students in our master and bachelor programmes. This is done in close collaboration with the lecturers of Wageningen University & Research, who are responsible for the content of those courses. The Brightspace platform is used to build and offer the courses in which educational tools as Turnitin, FeedbackFruits, H5P are used. Other than these tools, the team makes use of MS Teams and Jira and Domo for the daily tasks, communications and reporting.

The team Online Learning Environment consists of seven people. Five instructional designers, two functional administrators and you as a new colleague in the role of functional administrator. Other ESC teams also have functional administrators.

The job
In this role you will help to translate the wishes and needs of teachers and instructional designers into solutions. You will also be a first stop for any questions about the platform. In this way you will contribute to guarantee the high quality of our system and courses.

After a thorough onboarding and training period, this will be your day-to-day work:
  1. Thinking along and giving advice about optimised use of the Online Learning Environment and additional tools for its users; lecturers, students, team and for interaction with ESC as a whole and other teams within the department;
  2. Collaborate with Instructional Designers to translate didactical choices into solutions;
  3. Addressing issues that arise, via a ticket system; answering questions of users and help them with the use of the Online Learning Environment, facilitating and solving issues of access, authorization and various roles, safeguarding the (integrity of) data;
  4. The Online Learning Environment provides a lot of data that we use to improve our course quality and system; you support this by providing reports;
  5. Being responsible for effective and efficient change management in the basic implementation of the tools for instance;
  • assessing impact following needs from the organization and user needs;
  • assessing and accepting functional design;
  • responsible for timely implementation, progress and prioritization of new releases and urgent corrections and updates;
  • managing information/ documentation of system and tools, including change management;
  1. You are the liaison between the WUR's IT department, the cloud software suppliers and us;

Requirements

You are passionate about the role of functional administrator and you can rely on your recent relevant work experience.

Additionally:
  • You are an experienced functional administrator with 5 year experience and/or a proven track record in fulfilling the tasks and roles described above;
  • You have professional and intellectual capacities in the IT domain at higher professional education level (HBO) or above;
  • You have specific knowledge on web technology (HTML), data analysis and network
  • Because the team and organisation are international, you need to be fluent in English (minimum level C1) and Dutch minimum level B1;
  • You have affinity with Agile way of working through which you have learned to work on client priorities, be flexible and have affinity with working in a team.

    Besides the requirements above we appreciate curiosity, excellent communication skills as part of a service orientation with customers.

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 2960,- and € 4670, - for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). The position is for 0,8-1,0 fte. The duration of the contract is initially for one year, with the intention for extension and potentially a permanent contract.
