PROFESSORSHIP FOR HIGH VOLTAGE TECHNOLOGY AND ELECTRICAL POWER ENGINEERING

to start as soon as possible.

We are looking for an individual who has gained practical professional experience in industry or who has equivalent expertise and experience in the field of high voltage technology.

• The successful candidate is required to have a degree in electrical engineering or a comparable subject. The future incumbent is expected to have a particular aptitude for in-depth and independent academic work, usually demonstrated by an above-average doctorate or relevant achievements equivalent to a doctorate.
• Candidates are also required to demonstrate their aptitude for teaching, as well as a minimum of five years’ relevant practical professional experience, of which at least three years are to have been outside of a university context.
• The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to initiate and implement research projects based on their previous experience, ideally in the designated field.
• The incumbent should also have a proven track record of professional involvement in the field of high voltage technology, e.g. in conferences, standardisation bodies or expert committees.
• In the area of teaching, the successful candidate will represent courses in the designated subject area of “High Voltage Technology and Electrical Power Engineering”, as well as teaching the foundations of electrical engineering and advanced courses. The latter include at least Electrical Power Systems and Electrical Power Supply. Real-world experience is to be incorporated into teaching in an effort to spark students’ interest and to prepare them for professional practice. For this reason, the incumbent will ideally have relevant teaching experience.
• In addition to teaching, the successful candidate is also expected to engage in applied research and technology transfer activities in the designated subject area.
• In all other respects, the statutory conditions governing the appointment of professors, provided for in Section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), shall apply.
