Job description

Candidates are expected to have or develop a strong, innovating program of research that connects to the main research interests in Organizational Psychology. We expect that in developing this program of research, the selected candidate will:
  • conduct and publish high quality research aligned with the research program;
  • develop and teach courses and supervise students in the Bachelors and Masters-programs;
  • attract external funding for research projects and seek national and international collaborations;
  • show departmental citizenship by contributing to research and teaching committees;
  • engage in impact activities outside academia.

Requirements

  • A PhD in organizational psychology or a closely related field such as social psychology, evolutionary psychology, personnel/personality psychology, (human resource) management (HRM), or organizational behavior (OB);
  • First authored articles in peer-reviewed international journals;
  • Experience with teaching courses and supervising students;
  • Having obtained or willingness to obtain the University Teaching Qualification (Dutch: BKO)
  • Affinity with the acquisition of external research funding;
  • Good contacts with work organizations (industry/government);
  • Willingness to learn the Dutch language (active/passive).

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €3,974 (scale 11-0)
and a maximum €5,439 (scale 11-11), depending on your education and experience. The job profile: is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 1 FTE.

Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences
The Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences focuses on the broad domain of behaviour and health. About the department
The organizational psychology section (Organizational Psychology) is part of the Department of Experimental and Applied Psychology in the Faculty of Behavioral & Movement Sciences. The section's research program investigates major themes such as leadership, organizational culture, personality, team dynamics, and work and health. We use innovating theoretical approaches and methodologies from evolutionary, personality, and experimental psychology.
The Department of Psychology provides a vibrant climate with high quality teaching and research staff and PhD-students who are supported by excellent facilities for research and teaching (e.g., multiple labs for experimental research, neuroscience equipment, excellent contacts with industry and government, expertise in statistics and methodology).
Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit has a world-class reputation in terms of research and teaching, as indicated by international rankings, research assessments, high quality publications, high standards for teaching and mentoring, and frequent visits by international scientists.
