Are your research interests at the intersection of technology, management and pedagogy? We are recruiting for the position of a postdoctoral researcher of management education at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM).

Job description

You will work within the Education section. Our current research focus areas include assessment and feedback in management education; educational technology and active learning; and the role of curriculum design for effective higher education-employer collaboration.

Are you the outstanding applicant with experience with evidence-based teaching innovations in the fields of business and management; solid research methods skills (both quantitative and qualitative); and an interest in change management in higher education? You should also be interested in applying those skills to study and reflect on the teaching practices across the RSM's study programmes.

  • accurate identification of teaching innovation trends and areas for growth across our programmes
  • enhancement of our students' learning experience
  • effective collaboration among all key stakeholders of the teaching and learning process.

Your main tasks
In this role as postdoctoral researcher, you will:
  • collect and analyse data to explore questions related to teaching and learning innovations across RSM's programmes of study
  • have the opportunity to analyse existing data sets, and conduct new experiments and data collection
  • collaborate with faculty members on the publication of the research results in high-profile peer-reviewed journals and on grant applications in the research focus areas mentioned above.

Requirements

Successful candidates must have a relevant PhD degree, with a background in:
  • (management) education, research methods or other related fields, or
  • statistics with an interest in management education transformation.
You can also apply if you have a publication record in the above-mentioned areas.

Your required competences
For this role, we are particularly looking for applicants with experience in evidence-informed teaching innovation, data collection and analysis methods, including the application of multivariate analysis. We will be collecting both qualitative and quantitative data, using interviews, focus groups, observation and surveys.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 24 months.

The position is a full-time research position of temporary nature. It will initially be available for two years, with likelihood for extension for another two years.

This position will jointly report to the dean of education and the director of e-masters.

The conditions of employment correspond with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 3,974 (scale 11 CAO NU) gross per month and up to a maximum of € 5,439 gross per month (scale 11 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.

Erasmus University has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a considerate amount of vacation days. More information is available on the EUR website.
