Are you a highly motivated EHS-officer with a qualification as safety officer, and are you interested in technical and engineering challenges of a cutting-edge research infrastructure? Then this could be your job.

Job description

  • As EHS-officer you are familiar with the applicable Dutch laws and regulations and ensure that these are correctly complied with.
  • You support the technicians and scientist in a cleanroom environment during their preparation and the installation of:
    • A 175 m3 vacuum system
    • Laser systems
    • Cryogenic system
    • Mechanical systems
  • Organise the development and implementation of EHS-policies of ETpathfinder.
  • You will carry out incident investigations and analyse.
  • Perform FMEA, HAZOP, CE-marking and TRA meetings.
  • Acting as point of contact and overseeing EHS-topics on the technical work carried out by external partners and contractors.
  • Working within a large team of scientists from within Maastricht University and about 20 collaborating national and international partner universities and research institutions.
  • The location of this 0.6-1.0 FTE  job is in the ETpathfinder facility, Duboisdomein 30, Maastricht.

Requirements

  • You have a relevant completed WO or HBO EHS education (essential) .
  • You hold VCA++ safety certification (essential).
  • Ambition to develop further in specific areas of attention, such as:
    • Laser Safety Officer
    • Ultra-High Vacuum
    • Cryogenics
    • Chemicals
  • The position requires effective communication with various stakeholders, therefore you are expected to speak Dutch and English (essential)
  • You can work independently (essential)
  • You are flexible in your service provision and in collaboration with others (essential)
  • Technical or engineering background is a plus
  • Experience on a senior level is desirable, but not essential

Fixed-term contract: 2 years (0.6-1.0FTE), with opportunity to extend.

  • The salary will be set in salary scale 10-11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities from €2.960  to €5.439 gross per month depending on experience and qualifications, based on a full-time appointment). On top of this, there is an 8% holiday allowance and a 8.3% year-end allowance.

Department: Gravitational Waves and Fundamental Physics
The Department for Gravitational Waves and Fundamental Physics was founded in 2019 and is involved in gravitational wave research in context of the upcoming Einstein Telescope, and with particle physics research at the LHCb experiment at CERN. Both experiments are world-leading in their research, discovering a wealth of new facts about the fundamental forces of nature and the evolution of the universe after the big bang. GWFP is also a member of Nikhef, the Dutch national research institute for Subatomic Physics.
