Job description

Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) has a vacancy for Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship, with a focus on Social Entrepreneurship. The candidate is expected to publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and to contribute to Entrepreneurship section's research programme Entrepreneurship and Society, in particular Social Entrepreneurship. The tenure evaluation takes place after 9-12 months. In this position 30% of the time is reserved for research, 65% is dedicated to teaching activities and 5% is to be spent on governance activities.

Candidates are expected to teach in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes of the School. Teaching is in English. The preferred starting date is August 2023, an earlier date can be discussed.

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to:
  • hold a doctorate in economics, business economics or a related discipline;
  • have a potential for excellence in research, targeting publications in top field international peer-reviewed journals;
  • contribute to our research on Entrepreneurship and Society, in particular Social Entrepreneurship, and develop collaborations with relevant colleagues;
  • have knowledge of and experience with quantitative research methods (e.g. data science, network analysis, econometrics);
  • have skills to inspire and teach students from undergraduate to graduate levels; prior teaching experience is a plus;
  • have excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • have an excellent command of spoken and written English;
  • have affinity and experience with practitioners (entrepreneurs, policy makers).

Conditions of employment

This is an appointment of 1.0 FTE for the duration of 18 months (tenure evaluation takes place after 9-12 months). Following a positive evaluation after 18 months, this will be converted in a permanent contract.
The minimum gross salary is €3,974,- and the maximum gross salary is €5,439,- (scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities) per month, at a full-time employment.

Besides that, you will receive a holiday allowance of 8 % and a year-end bonus of 8.3 %.
