Job description

The Marketing & Communication Division of Tilburg University is looking for a Junior Data Analyst who can boost insights into the behavior of our future students. The insights you will be extracting from our data will be crucial in helping our future students as personally as possible with choosing their studies.

As a Data Analyst, you will play a key role in making better use of the data in our CRM and Marketing Automation platforms (Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud) as well as from our website traffic. You will monitor our data quality and provide data analysis and strategic insights to improve the personalization and effectiveness of our recruitment. You will discover and analyze trends and make data-driven recommendations to increase the effectiveness of our recruitment processes.

You will support Marketing & Communication with reports, insights and analysis. By clearly communicating your findings and translating them into practical advice, you ensure that others can also work in a data-driven way.

In your position you will work together with colleagues who handle communication towards prospective students and organize recruitment activities as well as with the specialists who set up the processes in our systems. 

What will you do?

  • Identify the story in the data and communicate these insights and opportunities to internal stakeholders;
  • Work with our CRM admins or our Online Marketing specialist to ensure that data is captured in an actionable way;
  • Monitor and maintain data quality, ensuring issues are resolved;
  • Run recurring reports to monitor KPIs;
  • Determine effectiveness of activities;
  • Analyze data to find correlations between different types of data;
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis on request to answer questions;
  • Ensure complex data is communicated in an understandable way.

Requirements

Your qualifications
You are almost or just graduated and would like to further develop yourself. You probably remember yourself how difficult it was to choose the "right" study and you have the creativity to contribute to improve this process with our data.

Your qualifications and talents

  • Bachelor's degree (WO or HBO) in Data Science, Econometrics, Economics or in a related field;
  • You have proven skills in data analysis, statistical modeling and data visualization;
  • You love data and have strong analytical skills. You are able to spot trends in data;
  • You are inquisitive and do not avoid adventure, you enjoy delving into systems you are not yet familiar with or techniques you have not yet mastered;
  • You have knowledge of programs for statistical analysis (R or Python or SPSS/SAS), of data visualization software such as Power BI or Tableau, and of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX);
  • If you have previous experience with CRM systems, with Google Analytics or Matomo is a plus; 
  • You show personal leadership: you take responsibility for your work and career and have good self-knowledge; 
  • You have a sense of team spirit: you feel part of a team and express this through collaboration, sharing knowledge and experiences, and contributing to an open and inclusive work environment; 
  • Tilburg University is an international university, firmly rooted in the region and therefore bilingual. We expect our employees to meet the language level for this position we expect English on a CEFR level B2. 

Conditions of employment

This is a position for 0.8 to 1.0 FTE (32 - 40 hours per week) of the full-time working week. 
 
The salary amounts to a minimum of €3098 and a maximum of €4257 gross per month for full time employment contract, based on UFO profile name profile and salary scale 9 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Tilburg University uses a neutral salary system for scaling that is based on relevant education and work experience. 

This is a vacancy for a structural position in accordance with Article 2.3, paragraph 1 of the CLA for Dutch Universities. You will be given a temporary employment contract for the duration of 12 months. After this period, if your suitability has been proven and you continue in the same position, you will receive an employment contract for an indefinite period. 

You are entitled to a vacation allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of your gross annual income. If you work 40 hours per week, you will receive 41 paid days of leave per year.
