Our university-wide research into AI has a shared need for high-performance computing. As our AI-HPC community grows rapidly, well-organised support, training and a comprehensive vision for the development and use of our clusters are crucial. As Senior HPC Engineer, you will be in the lead to further develop our HPC research facility. Building your team of HPC engineers almost from scratch, you’ll recruit, manage and coach your engineers. Together, you’ll make sure that the clusters operate properly and that the community is fully supported and well-trained, for which you’ll develop training programmes.
Based on your vision, you will devise and implement a strategy that serves our AI-HPC community, from students and researchers to educators. To align their needs and interests, you will manage the User Board, in which key users from across TU Delft are represented. Strategic planning and budgeting, introducing policies and rules, and decision-making on cluster changes are all part of your joint remit. And as our HPC facility has no dedicated budget, you will secure funding from the various faculties and AI labs. That means building your network of stakeholders and decision makers at TU Delft. You’ll also be actively involved in the global academic community at large and promote our HPC facility, increasing our visibility.
You’ll work closely with a growing team of researchers and engineers from various departments, Central ICT and the DelftBlue supercomputer facility. With the last you’ll be working towards a joint strategy to strengthen TU Delft’s computing power. Ours is a friendly and open environment in which you will get all the support you need to grow your role and your team. A vibrant group of highly-motivated people from different backgrounds, we share a drive to enhance our HPC capabilities, supporting groundbreaking research and world-class education!
Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

Challenge. Change. Impact!
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) brings together three disciplines - electrical engineering, mathematics and computer science. Combined, they reinforce each other and are the driving force behind the technology we use in our daily lives. Technology such as the electricity grid, which our faculty is helping to make future-proof. We are also working on a world in which humans and computers reinforce each other. We are mapping out disease processes using single cell data, and using mathematics to simulate gigantic ash plumes after a volcanic eruption. There is plenty of room here for ground-breaking research. We educate innovative engineers and have excellent labs and facilities that underline our strong international position. In total, more than 1,100 employees and 4,000 students work and study in this innovative environment.
