Job description

Responsibilities  

  • Teaching and module coordination in the 1 and 2 year MSc programmes in Water & Sustainable Development; 
  • Supervision of MSc and PhD candidates in the areas of water treatment, disinfection, (microbial) water quality monitoring and advanced oxidation;
  • Acquisition and implementation of research and capacity development projects, in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental partners in the Global South.

Requirements

  • PhD degree with indepth knowledge of disinfection and advanced oxidation processes;
  • Proven track record in research (publications, h-index, citations);
  • Practical experience in setting up (advanced) microbial and chemical methods in disinfection and water quality monitoring;  
  • Project experience in the Global South;
  • Teaching experience at post-graduate level;
  • Experience mentoring MSc and PhD thesis students;
  • Experience in proposal writing and acquisition of research funds is preferred.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: with the prospect of extension.

  • The employment contract is for 38 hours per week.
  • At the end of the 1 year contract there will be an evaluation to see if the contract can be extended.
  • Scale 10 Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (VSNU).

  • The appointment implies entry into the Netherlands' Civil Service Pension Fund (ABP).
  • We also offer 31 days’ leave based on 38 hours working week.
