Do you want to work in a lively and collegial group of development economists, combining research and education in a tenure track position? The Development Economics group at Wageningen University is looking for an enthusiastic and high-quality assistant professor with expertise in empirical and/or theoretical development economics, to complement our team.
As a tenure track assistant professor in our group:
  • You develop and implement research projects and publish your work in top (field) journals in economics;
  • You acquire funding to realize your research agenda;
  • You develop and teach courses, in collaboration with your colleagues, and you supervise PhD students and BSc and MSc theses;
  • You contribute to a lively, friendly, and inclusive working and learning environment.

Requirements

As an Assistant Professor in Development Economics you have:
  • a PhD in Development Economics, or a related field;
  • proven ability to publish in leading academic journals;
  • ability to work in interdisciplinary and international research teams;
  • excellent communication and writing skills;
  • good didactic qualities and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students;
  • commitment to learn Dutch (for non-Dutch speaking candidates) within 2 years of appointment.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will be offered a fixed-term contract which, upon positive evaluation based on criteria elaborated in the University's Tenure Track policy, can lead to a permanent employment contract as professor. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3.974,- and € 5.439,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11).
