The University Library (UL) is looking for a colleague to join the Front desk team. As a Front desk employee, you are the face of the UL and you are able to make all visitors feel welcome. This applies both to visitors coming to study in the UL and to customers who, for example, ask a question about a book.

Job description

  • You represent the UL. You have a visible presence and you exude a desire to help customers. You feel involved with colleagues and students;
  • You help customers with all 1st-line questions we receive in the UL, by phone and via e-mail. We manage a demand management system, among other things;
  • You take care of the quality of the learning environment so that students can study with us without worries;
  • You are responsible for the flawless lending of books and periodicals;
  • You proactively come up with detailed proposals for improving (the use of) systems;
  • You are responsible for the neat appearance of our study rooms;

Requirements

  • A customer-friendly and proactive colleague, connecting, with a healthy dose of humour;
  • Experience in a service-oriented environment is a plus;
  • Experience with OCLC or other catalogue system;
  • Experience with digital resources and databases;
  • Affinity with the university. Someone who enjoys working with and for students;
  • Communicative and able to speak and write in Dutch and English at a minimum B2 level;

Conditions of employment

We offer a dynamic and friendly working environment with room for own initiative, a lot of personal responsibility and a flexible workplace. We also offer good terms of employment in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The employment contract (0.8 - 1.0 fte) is for a period of one year and can be converted into a permanent position in case of good performance and unchanged organisational conditions. The salary depends on your knowledge and experience and is between € 2,471 and € 3,336 gross per month (scale 7) for a full-time appointment. EUR has attractive employment conditions, including 8% holiday allowance, a year-end bonus of 8.3% and a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated to the ABP pension scheme and we offer partially paid parental leave. Employees can also make use of EUR facilities, such as the Erasmus Sports Centre and the University Library.

The University Libary

The UL has an open culture in which cooperation, working on the basis of trust and taking responsibility are important. The University Library is the university's content manager and helps researchers and students create and disseminate knowledge. This makes knowledge accessible to every citizen and contributes to EUR's societal impact.

Front desk

Your colleagues of the Front desk take care of the building-related services of the UL, such as handling questions, study spaces and lending out books. An important part of this lending is ILL (interlibrary loan). The team consists of experienced staff and students who have chosen a part-time job at the UB. This turns out to be an excellent mix in which a lot of knowledge and experience is shared in a pleasant atmosphere.
