Are you looking for a challenging job in a dynamic team? The Department of Media Studies of the Faculty of Humanities is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced project manager.

The Critical Infrastructure Lab, a project funded by the Ford Foundation, the Internet Society, and the Open Technology Fund at the Media Studies Department of the University of Amsterdam will start in January 2023. It aims to develop new infrastructural futures that center people and planet of profit and capital.

What are you going to do?

The most important part of your job is enabling for the team of researchers to do their work by taking care of administrative and project management tasks.

We are looking for someone who is diligent and precise and who enjoys administrative processes, structuring complex workflows. In short, someone who is not scared by spreadsheets and gantt charts but actually enjoys them.

Your tasks and responsibilities:
  • Manage the project's communication with its funders and assist in fundraising;
  • Lead the project narrative and financial reporting to the funders;
  • Liaise with the project office of the University;
  • Maintain the project website, mailinglists, and social media;
  • Help organize project events such as exhibitions, infrastructures walks, conferences and retreats;
  • Help manage the publication of books, special issues, and popular culture products;
  • Write short events reports and blog posts.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of English and Dutch;
  • HBO / professional grade working and thinking level;
  • Good at time and priority management;
  • Good ability to organize, document and administrate.
Your experience and profile:
  • Excellent social and communication skills;
  • Good written and oral command of Dutch and English;
  • Knowledge of and experience with MS Office and/or Libre Office;
  • Knowledge of and experience with Wordpress.
Experience with free software (such as Nextcloud, Linux, LibreOffice) is an advantage.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary employment contract for a period of 1 year with a probationary period of two months and a possible extension of one year. Preferred starting date is 01 March 2023. The employment contract is for 10 hours a week.

The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and relevant experience, ranges between € 2,960 to € 4,670. This sum does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8,3% year-end allowance. A favourable tax agreement, the '30% ruling', may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.
