Postdoc Exploring energy system vulnerabilities (15 months)

Postdoc Exploring energy system vulnerabilities (15 months)

Published Deadline Location
16 Jan 12 Feb Delft
How vulnerable is our energy system and what can we do about it?

Job description

Our energy system is vulnerable. The gas crisis in Europe, related to the war in Ukraine, has shown us how easy our energy supply can be disrupted. There is a variety of risks to the energy system. Geopolitical risks are just one of them. Others are power system stability risks, disruptive cybersecurity risks, and threats to critical energy supply infrastructure.

Within the Netherlands’ Energy Research Alliance, Dutch universities cooperate on energy transition research. Together we want to explore what research is needed to have a better understanding of the main energy system vulnerabilities, and how these vulnerabilities can be reduced. To this end, we have started this project, led by Delft University of Technology.

The tasks of the postdoc will be:

  • Identification of the major vulnerabilities through literature research, interviews with experts and stakeholders.
  • Organisation of a number of workshops to define a research agenda on energy system vulnerabilities.
  • Writing of articles and position papers on this topic.

Although this is a position at TU Delft, the work will be carried out in close cooperation with energy researchers across Dutch universities and internationally.
