Job description

2 PhD positions are available in the labs of Debbie van den Berg and Kerstin Wendt at the Department of Cell Biology.

In this project we want to understand the molecular mechanisms behind the neurodevelopmental defects observed in Cornelia de Lange Syndrome and related neurodevelopmental disorders. We will generate brain organoids as well as 2D cell culture models for neuronal differentiation and investigate developmental trajectories, gene expression changes, altered signalling pathways, and binding patterns of gene regulatory proteins. For this we will use a wide range of techniques from NGS approaches (single cell and bulk RNA-sequencing, ChIP-sequencing), proteomics, iPS cell and brain organoid culture, genome editing, biochemistry and imaging. Throughout the project we will intensively collaborate with clinicians and family organisations.
