Job description

Are you an enthusiastic teacher and expert in the field of soil geography? Do you aspire an impact on society through organising and developing higher education? Then you may be the candidate we are looking for!

Wageningen University is seeking to appoint a lecturer Soil Geography (0.8-1 fte) in the Soil Geography and Landscape group. As a lecturer in our group, your main tasks include teaching, improving, and developing BSc courses on geomorphology, soil geography and landscape ecosystem services, with an emphasis on the Netherlands. You will coordinate at least one course and will contribute to other courses in BSc and MSc programmes. You are expected to allocate about 70% of your time to these teaching tasks. As our education is closely linked to societal challenges, you will also develop and maintain contacts with relevant stakeholders and colleagues in the work field. In this capacity, you will perform research on soil-land-use interactions at the landscape scale and link your research to education. You will be involved in the thesis supervision of BSc and MSc students and may be asked to co-supervise PhD candidates in the Soil Geography and Landscape group.

The mission of the Soil Geography and Landscape group of Wageningen University is to improve and share understanding of patterns and dynamics of soils and landscapes. We take an integrative approach that combines biophysical and anthropogenic elements to gain insights in past, present and future system dynamics and to support sustainable land management. New insights from research are integrated into the chair group's teaching as much as possible, building on and preserving our rich heritage in soil geography education.
