Job description
As managing director you are the face of EMI Twente to the outside world. You have and maintain a broad relevant external network and maintain the network with EMI customers. You are responsible for the vision and strategy of EMI Twente and its implementation, as well as for business development and business operations.
We are looking for someone with the ambition to expand the impact of EMI Twente and taking the range of our technology to the next level.
You keep track of internal and external trends that potentially could lead to new opportunities and you will engage in national and international collaborations. You develop new strategic R&D-projects and roadmaps as well as you acquire new research projects, either directly financed by industry or by funding programs
You will further professionalize EMI Twente into an efficient and goal oriented organisation which you will do together with the EMI Twente team that you will supervise and manage. You are responsible for HR management and for marketing and communication activities within EMI Twente. As statuary director you have periodic consultations with shareholder University of Twente Holding, as well as shareholder meetings.

Requirements
As managing director of EMI Twente you
- have relevant experience as a director or manager;
- are decisive and have a down-to-earth and practical business attitude;
- have a strong entrepreneurial mind- and skillset;
- are able to transform ideas into tangible products;
- have excellent communication skills and are able to communicate at various levels, both verbally and in writing;
- have a PhD in chemical engineering, physics or (polymer) chemistry, preferably with strong background in membrane science & technology;
- have +/- 5 years of relevant experience in the membrane field, preferably obtained in industry;
Conditions of employment
We offer a market-level salary in a pleasant working environment. The salary is in the range € 6.340 - € 8.508 gross per month, depending on the knowledge and experience you bring. Furthermore, we have a bonus plan.
