We are looking for a biostatistician with experience in the analysis of observational studies and clinical trials and strong interest in prediction modelling.

We are looking for a biostatistician with experience in the analysis of observational studies and clinical trials and strong interest in prediction modelling.

In this position you work together with epidemiologists, medical researchers and clinicians on the design and analysis of an international funded research project on novel clinical tools for use in diagnosing and managing high-risk pregnancies and reducing the burden of stillbirths in Uganda, sub-Saharan Africa, and globally.

You actively contribute to the design of studies, write/review statistical analysis plans, develop/launch analysis scripts and methodology while demonstrating insight into the biomedical background of this and further global health related projects.

Requirements

  • You are an experienced statistician who shows initiative, experience in working in large international consortia and has a broad interest in, and academic qualities for, the field of medical statistics and prediction modelling.
  • You preferably have a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Biometrics, or a related field, and have experience in statistical consultation, statistical programming and teaching.
  • You are familiar with a wide range of statistical analysis programmes including R.
  • Ability to communicate statistical ideas to non-specialists is a must.
  • You thrive in an international, multidisciplinary environment and are a good collaborator.
  • You can work well independently, communicate effectively, and have excellent didactic, written and verbal English skills.
The function is 80- 100% fte as Assistant Professor if you have a PhD. Appointment is temporary for two years. Starting date is ideally from 1 April 2023.

Conditions of employment

The maximum salary for this position (28 - 36 hours) is € 5.919,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).

You will be appointed at the Department of Global Public Health and Bioethics at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care, UMC Utrecht, The Netherlands. The department conducts high-impact epidemiologic and global health research in the areas of circulatory health, cancer, infectious disease, maternal & child health, exposome sciences and planetary health, with the aim to generate evidence that contributes to improved health and equity in health and to educate new generations of researchers and health care professionals worldwide.
